My parents, Richard and Connie, have been married for almost 40 years. After all these years they are still very happily married. They have always enjoyed spending time together and are currently serving a mission for our Church in North Carolina. They have always set a great example to me in all that they do. They love their children and grandchildren more than anything and are enjoying this stage of their lives.
Connie: My mom is my best friend. I talk to her a few times a day (a little less now that they are on a mission), and we never seem to run out of things to talk about. Connie has an amazing ability to make people feel comfortable, complete strangers tend to open up and talk to her wherever she goes. Connie has a wonderful personality, and is very warm and kind. In all my childhood years I don't recall her ever raising her voice or ever really getting mad. She is very patient and loves her family very much. Connie loved to draw and paint when she was younger, but over the years she became busy with kids and unfortunately didn't pursue that talent. She writes cutes poems, and loves to make up silly songs. Another talent of hers is her ability to make silly voices, mostly for the grandkids, but I sometimes catch her talking to me in a silly voice. Connie is very smart, and has a great memory (even if she denys it). Connie has always been a great example to me, she has a very strong testimony of the gospel and always taught us to do what is right. I couldn't have asked for a better mother.
Richard: The words that come to mind to describe my father are: honest, hardworking, diligent, funny and loving. Richard always worked 2-3 jobs while I was growing up to provide for our family. He instilled in us a great work ethic and is honest in all he does. While I was a senior in high school Richard decided to go back to school for his personal pilots licence. I remember him studying in the evenings or early mornings and graduated the top of his class. I remember him taking me on my first flight, I was so impressed to be sitting in this little airplane that my father was flying. Flying is a real passion of his, and he is an amazing pilot. Richard is also a talented artist, although he doesn't draw very much he is very good at it. He loves to study church history and is constantly reading or preparing for lessons. Like my Mom, he has a very strong testimony and his example in living life helped me to also gain a testimony.
